
Doyle Franklin Oran, 68, of Woodstock, Georgia passed away on April 20th after a courageous struggle with cancer. Doyle was born in Harriman, Tennessee September 13, 1944. He received his undergraduate degree from Carson-Newman College, MS degree from the University of Georgia and his PhD from Georgia State University. Doyle was a highly respected life long educator in DeKalb County, GA, beginning his career in 1965 as a math teacher at Sequoyah High School. He was the Assistant Principal at Druid Hills High School as well as Principal at Southwest Dekalb and Redan High Schools. Next, he was appointed the Director of Planning and Athletics and then went on to become the Assistant Superintendent of the Dekalb County School System. Doyle is survived by his wife Brenda Bell Oran; daughters Linda Portwood, Carol Froula and husband Matt ; grandchildren Leighton, Carter, and Reece Portwood, and Eleanor, Mary Frances, and James Froula; sisters Pat McGill and husband Dean of Harriman, TN, Bonita Whaley of Kannapolis, NC, and brother Don Oran of Bullhead City, AZ. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 3rd, 2:00pm at Roswell Presbyterian Church in the Historic Chapel, 755 Mimosa Blvd. Roswell, GA 30075. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Cremation Society of Georgia is in charge of arrangements 404-355-7627.
