Very Rev. John T. Howren, V.F. Sept. 12, 1964 – Jan. 12, 2026 It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of our beloved Pastor, Father John. Ordained to the priesthood on June 1, 1996, Father John was a dedicated servant of God, offering his life and ministry with unwavering faith, compassion, and deep devotion to our community here at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, where he has served since the summer of 2020. He served as a spiritual guide and source of inspiration for many during his nearly thirty years of priesthood, always living out Christ’s love in his heart. We give thanks to God for the gift of his life and his faithful service to the Church. As we mourn his loss, we find comfort in the hope of the Resurrection and the promise of eternal life he so faithfully proclaimed. Please keep Father John, his family, and all who loved him in your prayers during this difficult time. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
