Beloved Coach and Redan’s Assistant Principal Pat Watkins, age 83, of Grayson, GA, passed away on Monday, December 12, 2022 after a stay in the hospital. Coach Watkins received his BS from Auburn University and his Masters from University of GA. He was one of the original teachers who opened Towers in 1964. Coach Watkins taught algebra, consumer’s math, PE, shop, and he coached wrestling. In 1975, he was promoted to Assistant Principal. He remained at Towers as Assistant Principal through 1978. Several years after Redan High School opened, he transferred to Redan as Assistant Principal and was a wonderful addition to Redan for many years.

Coach Watkins lived locally and was often seen eating at Kellie's in Loganville, or seen out grocery shopping. His former students were always thrilled to run into him and he sincerely seemed to enjoy seeing and reminiscing with the Titans and Raiders of yesteryear.

Coach Watkins is predeceased by his wife, Becky, who passed away earlier this year on February 15, 2022 at age 79. He is survived by his sons, Rob (Jenny) and Mike (Carmen), and grandchildren, Misty, Rachel, and Sarah, and 7 great grandchildren.
