Tony Taber (1979)
Michael Leon Ghee (Mike or Uncle Mike), age 63, of Duluth, GA, died October 2, 2025, suddenly and unexpectedly while riding his mountain bike at Harbins Park. Jesus could not have orchestrated a better meeting with Mike. The youngest child of Weldon and Barbara Ghee, he grew up living with 2 older sisters in Redan, GA. Mike was a graduate of Redan High School, Class of 1979. He loved anything with wheels- bicycles, mini-bikes, dirt bikes, sports cars, and race cars. He spent most of his working career in construction; from building houses to fire reconstruction to remodeling. His love was restoring historic homes, and his work ethic was impeccable.Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, and great-nephew, Aiden Kimsey. Aiden was his buddy.
He is survived by his best friend and soulmate, Kathy Sewell. Survivors also include his sisters, Sherry King and her husband Tony of Loganville, GA, and Patsy Speaker and her husband Ted of Panama City, FL; nephews, Todd Kimsey and Dr. Michael King; nieces, Amy Marcotte and Kristen King; great-nephews, Colin Kimsey, Garrett Marcotte, and Griffin Marcotte; and great-niece, Brooklyn Marcotte. He loved being a superfan to his great-nephews and niece; cheering for them, teaching them, and most of all creating adventures which in turn made lasting memories. He started a “cousin” ski weekend (no parents) each year along with Kathy, Sherry and Tony after Christmas.
Mike was a brother, uncle and friend to many. He loved and was loved. He will be greatly missed. There will never be another Mike.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday October 26th, 2025, at Church on Main in the Worship Center, 2400 Main Street East, Snellville, GA 30078. The family will receive friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mike's memory to “Legacy 27.org”, a foundation set up in memory of Aiden Kimsey to support kids who want to play sports but have financial hardships, as well as partnering with schools to help support families in need. “Live like Aiden”.
