
Alton Douglas Blount, Sr., affectionately known as Doug, went to be with the Lord on May 10, 2025, at the age of 64. Born on September 3, 1960, Doug lived a life filled with hard work, deep love for his family, and an unwavering determination that inspired everyone who knew him.
Doug is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Deidre; his beloved children: son Doug Jr.and his wife Brittany, and daughters Tiffinni and her husband Larry, Betsy and her husband Matt, and Brittany and her husband TJ; and his eight grandchildren Mason, Madilynn, Dougie, Duke, Amelia, Bristol, Eleanor & William, each of whom he loved and adored dearly. He is also survived by his mother, Gwen; his brother, Billy and his fiancé JoAnn; his sisters, Lynn and her husband Allen, Dianne, Darlene and her husband Don, Father-in-Law Robert and Suzie, Mother-in-Law Dianne and Jerry; and many cherished nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Bill.
For over 40 years, Doug dedicated himself to the insurance damage construction industry, where he was widely respected and known for his expertise and passion. He gave his all to his work and helped countless people along the way, always eager to pass on his knowledge and see others succeed.
In 2015, Doug was diagnosed with lung cancer. He faced the illness with the same relentless strength and grit that defined his life and fought bravely for ten years. Through it all, his humor, determination, and deep love for his family never wavered.
Doug will be remembered for his remarkable work ethic, both on the job and at home. He had a captivating smile, a keen sense of humor, and a boundless curiosity that kept those around him on their toes—he seemed to know something about everything. He loved fishing, and he was known as one of the luckiest men when it came to recreational gambling, a title his family happily confirmed with many stories. Doug was also a big dreamer who had a rare ability to turn his visions into reality.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Union Methodist Church 4600 SR-138, Stockbridge, Georgia 30281. A reception with food and snacks will follow in the Church Fellowship Hall. All are welcome to join in honoring and remembering Doug’s extraordinary life. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Cancer Society in his name.
